What is your role at Urban Table? Server/Bartender/Hummus Fanatic
How long have you been with us at Bread & Butter Concepts/ Urban Table? I started at Urban Table in February largely because I was in love with the Monte Cristo. I'm being completely serious, that sandwich changes lives.
Favorite Part About Your Job? The people. Anytime I'm gone (I love to travel), it feels like I'm coming back to a family. Managers, servers, chefs- everybody will be high fiving, hugging, joking around, and filling each other in on their lives before the shift starts.
Describe yourself in 6 words or less. Bubbly to the point of annoyance. That's six, right? :)
Favorite Kansas City activity to do? I participate in community theatre, so whether it's singing, acting, tap dancing, or being a patron, I adore the arts scene here in KC. From the Kauffman to small theatres, large concert venues to the Green Lady Lounge, I love that there is never a shortage of music and theatre to be experienced here.
Where’s your favorite place to eat in the city? District Pourhouse, hands down. I'm pretty sure every server there recognizes my face at this point, it's more like an addiction. Close to my house, dog friendly patio, great food and cocktails. It's fabulous.
What’s something about you that would surprise your coworkers? I would say tap dancing, but they already learned that this summer. Probably that I like extreme activities- last year I got scuba certified and went skydiving!
What do you do on your days off? I love finding a great outdoor event like First Friday's or the Plaza Art Fair and enjoying our amazing city, I have so much pride in this place and I've only been here 3 years.
Who do you most admire in life? Currently, I would have to say my co-worker, Jes. She and her girlfriend are raising multiple foster kiddos right now while balancing their own children and work, and I just really admire how selfless that is. She has been an amazing friend I've made through Urban Table and she's taught me a lot about living for other people and not just yourself.
What’s your best memory with co-workers from Bread & Butter Concepts/Urban Table? We worked a 6 am catering event at KU Med last week and I learned it IS in fact possible to be awake before the crack of dawn and have a blast. Everyone was so energetic and it was neat to see these KU Med graduates from 50 years ago enjoying our quiche while being honored at this celebration breakfast!
