What is your role at Bread & Butter Concepts? I'm a bartender at Urban Table out in Prairie Village.

Favorite part of your job? Aside from the usual responsibilities behind the bar, I'm often given to creating our house cocktails and maintaining all of the house-made ingredients for which they call.  This is easily my favorite part of the job, as it affords me the opportunity to learn and experiment with new ideas and techniques.

Drink of choice? At the moment its the Fizz: Uncle Val's, St. Germain, lemon, and lemon thyme shrub--'tis the season.

Flavors you currently have a crush on? Thyme, achiote, and fig.

Describe yourself in 6 words or less. Will dance for shrimp fajitas.

Where are you from originally? I'm originally from Emporia, KS where I grew up and went to college.

Where did you work prior to Bread & Butter Concepts? I've worked as a debate coach and have done some construction (thanks Dad). My first job in KC was at a farm-to-table restaurant in Shawnee. It was there where I started learning how to bartend and apply that knowledge to creating new drinks. I had a lot of really good instruction and was lucky to get a great deal of experience that has carried over to my work at Urban Table.

What’s your favorite Kansas City activity to do? Slowly eating and drinking my way around the city and finding out what everybody is passionate about.  I don't believe there's any such thing as "the best BBQ"  or  "the best cocktails". I think everybody has something that can blow your mind if you know where to look.

Where’s your favorite place to eat in the city? In no particular order: Tacos on Wheels (Cubana torta), Cupini's (Italian), and Corner Restaurant (breakfast).

What’s the best memory or story you have at Bread & Butter Concepts? It’s hard to pick a favorite memory, but I know that the choice to switch to full-service has made for a much more rewarding and inspiring environment. It really made Urban Table what it now is and we're all benefiting from that inspiration.
